Michelle Bass is
probably best known for her stint on Big Brother 5 in the summer of
2004. Growing up in her hometown of Newcastle, Michelle was quite shy as
a child and no one would ever have dreamt she would have become the
outgoing character she is now. As she grew up, so did her confidence and
soon she realised she had a hunger for the spotlight. What Michelle
wanted most of all was to sing. So although she was training at college
in beauty therapy, she would go and audition for shows like Fame Academy
and Pop Idol in the hope of being discovered. And then Big Brother came
along. She is one of the most remembered housemates from all previous
series; from her classic rendition of “Pie Jesu” to the dramas in the
bed-sit. Finishing 6th in the show and with a huge fan base behind her,
Michelle was inundated with work offers, and OK! Magazine in particular
whisked her off to exotic locations like Jamaica and Disneyland in
Florida for shoots and interviews.
In 2004 Michelle starred as
Jasmine in the Aladdin at the St Albans Arena, and 2005 saw interest
increase in her even further during which she was offered to be the face
of the channel Television X. 10 years before no one would have ever
thought Michelle could do something like this, but she was to prove she
was here to stay. She signed on the dotted line and was soon to begin a
once in a lifetime job but not before Michelle decided the time had come
to boost her confidence even further by having her breasts enlarged to a
34E. The surgery was worth it and Michelle couldn’t be more pleased with
her new assets claiming it’s the best thing she ever did. And when she
started her presenting on Television X she felt more confident than ever
before. Over the course of 2005 Michelle continued to be an OK!
favourite and was a magazine and tabloid favourite.
2006 saw yet more dreams come
true for Michelle. She was voted 2nd in the Best Big Brother Housemate
Ever poll for E4 in January 2006, and February saw her take the front
cover of the best selling lads mag – Nuts for the first time. The rest
of 2006 also saw features in Daily Star Sunday, Ireland's Sunday World,
Spain's Siete Magazine, Maxim in South Africa, Love It!, Zoo Magazine,
People in Australia, Front Magazine, OK!, Heat Magazine, New Magazine,
and Max Power to name but a few. Many will remember Michelle saying in
the house that glamour modelling was a dream of hers – and now she had
something else ticked off of her list of ambitions.
Also in 2006, Michelle gained a
small role in feature film “I Want Candy” alongside the likes of Carmen
Electra and Michelle Ryan, and the film premiered several months later
in London in April 2007. Following the premiere, Michelle decided that
she wanted to expand on her charity work, and ran the Flora London
Marathon for the RSPCA; a charity very close to her heart. She was the
only ex Big Brother housemate to cross the finishing line that day. 2007
so far has seen features of Michelle in OK!, Star Magazine, Mail on
Sunday, People Magazine in Australia, FHM in Denmark, and many more.
Michelle has also been recording music and one song, “Must Be The Music”
charted at number 27 in the independent dance charts. More music is in
the pipeline for Michelle.
Michelle decided fashion
modelling was going to be her next move, and became the face of online
fashion boutique www.discoo.co.uk. Carrying on with modelling, Michelle
released her first ever calendar for 2008 which is something Michelle
never thought she would be able to do. Michelle proudly announced her
engagement in autumn 2007 to hypnotherapist Steve McKeown.
In 2007 Michelle was snapped up
as the News of the World’s online columnist for Big Brother, in what was
called her Sex Diary Room. She repeated this in 2008 and 2009 and is a
firm favourite with the paper’s readers, appearing weekly with her views
on the show. She reported exclusively for Big Brother on Channel 4 from
the shows auditions in Newcastle in 2008 and is working on a new venture
for late 2009. |
